Paul Evans-McLeod.Well 1999-2000 was another successful and busy year with a notable number of achievements.

We succeeded in forming a trust, in our own right, so as to more easily and effectively manage our own affairs.

We received on going funding from the HFA along with grants from WEL Trust and Waikato Community Trust. These were gratefully received and leave us on a sound financial footing and enable us to continue to function well and have a positive impact on the community.

Our field officer's school programme is going from strength to strength with 65 schools visited and over 10,670 pupils in all age groups spoken to. School age burns have been dramatically reduced in our region as a result.

We ran a very successful poster competition with 35 schools participating and four very happy age groups winners. Coverage of each winner was well supported by the local press in each area, helping to lift our profile.

A very successful family camp was held at Rotokiwi Thermal Camp at Rotorua. It was one of our best ever and gave us cause to renew our efforts and continue them next year.

Family days went well and dates have been arranged for the whole of next year. It is very important that you participate and that is all we ask of you.

Ted Anderson.Ted Anderson, our past president and current manager, has decided to quietly bow out of the committee and will not be seeking re-election. On behalf of the committee I would like to thank Ted for his untiring efforts over a great many years. His knowledge, advise and wisdom have seen the group rise from an organisation that was run on funding from cake stalls to a body that has a profound impact on the community and is held in high regard by health professionals and all others that come in contact with us. So, from all on the committee a warm and heartfelt "Thank you". We will miss your input. So much so I have been asked if you would mind being retained to be called on in an advisory capacity as a voluntary consultant. I hope you will accept.

In closing a big "Thank you" to all the committee as well, for all your efforts. We look forward to another successful year at the start of the new millennium. Graph
Yours,
Paul Evans-McLeod
President.
