This site has had a presence on the web since 12 October 2000:         Our Motto remains... "By Helping Others, We Also Help Ourselves".


WBS Linkages & Associations Within the Community

WBS works with various organisations withing the community.  Below is a list of groups and Government bodies with whom we have formed working relationships and linkages. 

  • Ministry of Health: For Policy advice and Ministry of Health requirements and guidelines.
  • NZ Burn Support National Body: For co-operation on some projects, plans, conferences etc.
  • ACC: For sharing ideas and assisting with claims etc.
  • NZ Fire Service: For co-ordination of fire prevention/disaster plans and programmes.
  • Schools: By maintaining a register and inviting individual schools to participate in our Schools Burn Prevention Programmes.
  • Polytechnics: To offer lectures on burn prevention and insight into burn survivors experiences.
  • Nursing and Occupational Therapy Staff: Assisting with and participating in classes and training opportunities.
  • St Johns: Providing training and advice on procedures etc.
  • Red Cross: Providing training and advice on procedures etc.
  • Hospital Health Services: Mutual provision of information and advice on Community Health and burn prevention.
  • Community Health Providers: Assisting with prevention and support for burn survivors.
  • Maori Service Providers: Providing advice and training on preventable burn related accidents, home safety etc.
  • Education Authorities & Advisors: Providing training and advice on burn issues.
  • Plunket: Providing advice and training on preventable burn related accidents, home safety, and provision of educational materials.
  • Kiririroa Marae: Working together with 'at risk" children and families.
  • Other Prevention Providers: Providing advice and training on preventable burn related accidents, home safety etc.
  • NZ Police, Workbridge: Working jointly on training of staff.
  • Other primary health Practitioners: Providing and participationg in training sessions.
  • Health Clinics: Providing advice, training, help and assistance.
