Ministry of Health Cut Burn Prevention Education in the Waikato
Our principle source of funding used to come from the Health Funding Authority of New Zealand with whom we were contracted to supply our core services of support and our burn prevention programme.  Due to cost cutting activity by the new National Government in 2009 this was cut and burn prevention is no longer supported.  This we feel to be a huge mistake as Burn Prevention Education worked towards saving many hundreds of thousands of dollars in health costs treating preventable burn related accidents every year.  If you would like to lobby your MP to ask for the reinstatement of our in School Burn Prevention Education Programme we feel it would be a valuable service to New Zealand and the Waikato.
