  • Waikato Hospital Burn Admissions: We maintain close links with Waikato Hospital in order to track admissions and be available when needed and also so that we can modify and tailor our services to meet the needs of survivors and direct our prevention/education Programmes as effectively as possible.

  • Points To Ponder: There is always need for greater care and attention in avoidingKeeping Safe burn related preventable accidents.  We are constantly working to reduce the incidence of burn admissions for babies and little children up to age four.  We are also concerned about the incidence of admissions for young Maori and this is something, we at WBS are working to redress by specifically targeting children and parents in this category with the publication of our special multi-cultural burn prevention book, Keeping Safe, Careful and Cool.  This book is available for distribution to all agencies working in this field and directly to the children and parents themselves through our School Burn Prevention Programme.  We are also working towards reducing these figures with combined activities and linkages with Maori Health Providers, Kohanga Reo, Te Reo, local Marae and other Maori groups where possible.
